The new service for users outside the U.S. comes via an EigenLayer integration.

Yesterday, Kraken Kraken announced its integration with EigenLayer, allowing clients to restake staked ETH directly from Kraken’s platform.

What’s the Scoop?

  • Expanded Reach: Restaking, previously available only to those more onchain, is now more accessible via Kraken's centralized platform, though only to users outside the U.S.
  • Increased Rewards: Clients can earn additional staking rewards from Actively Validated Services (AVS) on Ethereum Ethereum by restaking their ETH.
  • Kraken Subsidiary: Kraken’s subsidiary, Staked, will serve as the validator for restaked ETH.

Bankless Take:

The option to restake will likely make users do a double-take as they see the option pop up on Kraken and wonder what it is. But, since restaking has typically required more technical expertise, this integration will likely increase EigenLayer’s user base, making it easier for everyday investors to participate while earning additional rewards. It will be interesting to see how many users opt into restaking, as some may be turned off initially by the complexity of the protocol.
