Ethereum Ethereum community members have conducted an informal on-chain vote showing community support for Danny Ryan as the "sole executive director" of the Ethereum Foundation, The Block reports.

What’s the Scoop?

  • The Vote: Over 300 wallets holding over 50,000 ETH expressed support for Ryan on the site votedannyryan.com. The vote highlights an ongoing conversation around community desires for change at the top of the EF and broader dissatisfaction with progress in the wake of ETH's years-long underperformance.
  • Foundation Silence: The Ethereum Foundation has not commented on whether the vote will influence leadership decisions. Vitalik raised a ruckus last week when he emphasized his sole discretion to appoint leadership for EF and his dissatisfaction with the current rhetoric around existing leaders.

Bankless Take

This vote reflects a growing trend of leveraging on-chain signals like informal votes or predictions markets to establish consensus in sentiment. While the Ethereum Foundation operates independently of tokenholder governance, the strong CT pressure for change at the helm of the EF shows no signs of slowing down and could force their hand to make sweeping changes.
